Working Principles and Common Problems of Fully Automatic Solar Laminator

The working principle of the fully automatic solar laminator

  • The solar laminator is a mechanical device that presses multiple layers of materials under vacuum conditions.

  • Solar encapsulation is a material that laminates photovoltaic solar cells to improve their efficiency and durability.

  • The solar cell circuit floats between the materials.

Common questions about fully automatic solar module laminator

What is a solar panel laminator?

The laminator is used to produce solar modules, encapsulating different materials such as glass, EVA, solar cells, and backplanes into one through heating and vacuum pumping.

Which type of solar module has the highest efficiency?

The photoelectric conversion efficiency of single crystal silicon solar cells is about 17%, and the highest can reach 24%, which is the highest among various types of solar cells. However, the production cost is too high and is not widely used. Most manufacturers provide a 25-year warranty for single crystal silicon because it is usually encapsulated in tempered glass and waterproof resin.

How are solar panels laminated?

Solar energy is a new energy source, and its use technology is relatively mature and widely used. Solar cells are devices that directly convert solar energy into electricity using the photovoltaic effect. When multiple solar cells are connected in series, a solar cell array with a large output power is formed.

In the processing of photovoltaic modules composed of solar cells, the Eva attached to the photovoltaic module is heated and pressed together by the laminating process to bond the cells, glass, and backplane together. The existing solar photovoltaic modules are flat. During pressing, the photovoltaic component is placed in a vacuum chamber, the pressing surface is pressed, and the photovoltaic component is heated to achieve the thermal pressurization process.

What is a solar backplane?

Solar cell backplanes are widely used in solar cell modules and are located on the back of solar cell panels. They can protect and support cells and have reliable insulation, waterproof, and aging resistance.

There are two types of backplanes:

One is a glue-coated composite backplane film, composed of fluorine film or EVA film on both sides of the PET polyester film. It has a three-layer structure: TPT, TPE, KPK, and other common structures. The other type is a coating backplane film, which coats fluororesin on both sides of the PET polyester film and dries and cures it.
